I have always seen manholes as the door between the reality we know and the subterranean world — secret and mysterious. Beneath our feet flows our waste, the world we try to hide. With this work, I wanted to create a kind of map of the hidden United States, through New York, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles.
